ACADEMICS
My Academic Journey
I always did well in school, but it wasn’t until my junior year that I began actually enjoying my education. I’ve always really appreciated theatre, so throughout high school I performed in plays, and as much as I loved getting up on stage, memorizing lines, and analyzing characters, I knew fairly quickly that it wasn’t what I really wanted to do. My junior year of high school I got into journalism and found my niche. I met new people, learned about my community and began understanding the bonds and pride that arises when creating a publications. After seeing people holding the glossy pages that I took part in creating, I felt something deep inside my heart flutter. I loved that feeling, and I wanted to feel it again. My senior year I became editor-in-chief of Sonder Magazine, and the Backcountry Review. My adoration for puzzling words and punctuation together to create feelings and a narrative flourished, and I felt a sense of completeness, as well as a deep longing to do it all over again.
So, now I'm at Lane Community College (LCC) to pursue my English Degree and eventually publish books of my own.
